General & Technical Questions

Everything you need to know about our browser-based conversion technology.

Is JSON to Excel completely free to use?

Yes, 100% free with no registration, no subscription plans, no watermarks, and no trial countdowns. You can convert an unlimited number of JSON files and text snippets.

How does the tool guarantee privacy if it runs online?

The application runs entirely inside your client browser using JavaScript and Web Workers. Your files and clipboard text are never uploaded to our server or any cloud infrastructure. All data remains in your device's local memory and is purged when you close the tab.

What Excel file format is created?

The tool exports modern Office Open XML spreadsheets (.xlsx), natively supported by Microsoft Excel 2007 through Microsoft 365, Google Sheets, Apple Numbers, and LibreOffice Calc. You can also export as plain CSV.

Can I convert complex nested objects with child arrays?

Yes. Our engine features automatic dot-notation flattening. Deep properties like user.profile.city are turned into dedicated spreadsheet columns. Multi-key objects can also be split into multiple sheets.

How large of a JSON file can I convert?

You can convert datasets ranging from 10MB to 50MB and up to 100MB+ containing hundreds of thousands of rows. The Web Worker processes the file in the background so your browser window never freezes.

Can I batch convert multiple JSON files at once?

Yes! Use our Bulk Batch Converter to drop multiple .json files simultaneously. You can merge them into a single multi-sheet workbook or download a compressed ZIP of individual .xlsx files.

Does this tool work on mobile devices?

Yes. The responsive interface works on iPhones, iPads, and Android devices. You can paste data, preview tables, and download spreadsheets directly to your mobile device or cloud drive.

Can I install the converter for offline use?

Yes, JSON to Excel is built as a Progressive Web App (PWA). You can click 'Install' in Chrome or Edge to add it to your desktop or home screen with full offline support.
