About JSON to Excel

An independent open web tool built with a single mission: fast, high-quality, and 100% private JSON to Excel conversions directly in your browser.

The Problem I Set Out to Solve

As a software engineer working with REST APIs, database queries, and analytics feeds, I frequently need to convert raw JSON records into spreadsheets for business partners, accountants, and executive reviews.

Every time I searched for an online converter, I encountered the same frustrations:

  • Sites that secretly uploaded confidential API data to unknown remote servers.
  • Tools that crashed or froze the browser tab on files larger than 5MB.
  • Generic converters that failed on nested objects, outputting unreadable [object Object] strings.
  • Aggressive paywalls, account requirements, and email spam traps.

I built JSON to Excel to be the converter I always wanted: lightweight, fast, completely free, and strictly private.

Built with Client-Side Modern Web Tech

This website is built with Astro, TypeScript, and Tailwind CSS. All file parsing, dot-notation flattening, and OpenXML spreadsheet compilation run locally on your computer using native browser Web Workers and SheetJS.

Because there is zero server-side computation or file storage, this project costs very little to run, allowing me to keep it completely free for everyone without ads or subscriptions.

Independent Developer Disclosure
